Welcome to the Town of Sheldon Historian web site. Sheldon is a township in the county of Wyoming in the rolling hills of Western NY. We are Township 9 Ranges 3 and 4.and we extend @ 6 miles north to south and @ 8 miles east to west.The area of Sheldon Center at Rt 77 and Centerline Road where our Town Hall is located is almost the geographical center of the township.Sheldon was named for State Senator Chauncey Loomis`s mother ,as her maiden name was Sheldon. Our town was formed from Batavia , Genesee County 19 March 1808, and became part of Wyoming County in 1841.
